Wander
A web app that pulls travel locations out of TikTok videos and turns them into personalized itineraries.

Dynamic hero page built with ThreeJS
TikTok is full of travel inspiration, but the actual place names get buried in fast cuts and captions. Our team built Wander for a group project to fix that: no app was pulling location data out of TikTok videos automatically, so people had to scrub back through clips by hand and often missed places that only got a few seconds of screen time. We wanted users to go from "I saw this in a video" to a saved, plannable destination without any of that manual digging.
Paste a TikTok link in and Wander grabs the video's metadata through the TikTok API, sends it to OpenAI to extract the places mentioned, then cross-references each one against the Google Places API for ratings, photos, and details.
Saved attractions carry over into itinerary building. Pick your saved places, set travel dates, and OpenAI generates a day-by-day plan around them.
No TikTok on hand? The destinations page curates top attractions across multiple countries for inspiration.
Save multiple itineraries and pull them up later from My Itineraries.
Built with Vue on the frontend, a Flask backend containerized with Docker and deployed via Google Cloud Registry, and Firebase for auth and storage.
We got good feedback from our classmates and professor when we presented it, people seemed to genuinely like that we'd found an angle on the "TikTok made me want to travel" problem that nobody else in class had really touched.
